Wenting Deng Fisher is a cinematographer and director based in Los Angeles, CA.
Her photography work is seldom staged but captured in the vérité style. She has worked in camera departments in Asia, Europe, and the USA and has collaborated on short films, music videos, commercials, reality TV shows, feature films, and documentaries. Having worked as both cinematographer and director, Wenting understands the collaborative process from both perspectives. She is traditionally trained in Chinese watercolor and western oil painting, shaping her unique view of composition and lighting in cinematography.
Her MFA thesis film Empty Skies (as writer & director) was nominated for the Student Academy Awards and was featured in a write-up by the American Cinematographer magazine. It is also a winner at the ICG Emerging Cinematographer Awards and has been shown at the CAMERIMAGE in Poland and the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival.
Wenting is a participant of the BAFTA Newcomers, a mentee of the ASC Vision Mentorship Program, and a cinematography fellow of Film Independent Project Involve 2023.
Wenting has been an editor of the Chinese edition of the American Cinematographer magazine since 2018.
